Allen Sophia Asiimwe

Allen is a passionate advocate for Africa, leadership and gender inclusion. She has co- founded numerous initiatives including Girls For Girls, a global mentoring initiative aiming to empower one million girls to lead. The movement has a footprint in 40 countries globally—including 11 in Africa—with more than 10,000 mentees and 1,500 mentors.

Allen regularly shares her expertise as a guest speaker at global conferences and at institutions such as the Strathmore Business School (Kenya) and the Nova Business School (Portugal).

In her day-to-day work, Allen S. Asiimwe is the Deputy CEO and Chief of Programmes at TradeMark Africa (TMA), where she oversees the technical delivery and operations of a project portfolio valued at over $1.2 billion across the past decade. This expansive portfolio spans infrastructure, trade environment, business competitiveness, climate change, and inclusion across 18 African countries—contributing directly to the bold vision of implementing the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA).

Previously, Allen served as an international consultant with the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) in Cairo, driving the implementation of the Intra-Africa Trade Initiative. She is also the former CEO of AVID Development, a consulting firm focused on trade, governance, and development in Africa, and has held roles in the private sector, including with Standard Chartered Bank.

She currently sits on several boards including KCB Bank Uganda, chairs the board of Girls For Girls Uganda, and is a member of The Boardroom Africa (TBRA). Her past governance roles include Chairperson of The Innovation Village and CIVFUND, board member of The Water Trust, Chairperson of the Women Lawyers Association (FIDA-Uganda), and Trustee of FEMNET. She was also the first Ambassador for the Africa Chapter of the GIZ-supported Global Leadership Academy.

She is a lawyer by training and holds a Masters in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School (Edward Mason Fellow, 2017) and a Masters in International Business Law from the University of Manchester.
