About The Chapter

The Girls for Girls (G4G) Lesotho Chapter was launched in 2021 and operates under the Lesotho-based NGO, SeilatsatsiLS. Our mission is to empower marginalized women, focusing on those often overlooked in mainstream empowerment efforts. Through mentorship, leadership development, and mental health support, we hope to foster an inclusive and empowering space for underserved women to thrive.
In 2024, we partnered with US Embassy Lesotho through the American Corner to establish a cohort of entrepreneurial women. I In 2023, we partnered with Good Shepherd Centre for teenage mothers to establish our biggest cohort of 34 girls. In 2022, we officially launched the G4G Lesotho chapter with a young professionals cohort and partnered with AIDS Health Foundation to facilitate the cohort sessions. We also offered adhoc sessions on mental health and a career workshop (focusing on CV, interview preparation and personal branding).
Our mission is to empower marginalized women, ensuring that opportunities for growth and leadership are accessible to those often overlooked in mainstream women’s empowerment efforts. While many initiatives focus on women who already have a degree of privilege, our work prioritizes underserved groups. We began with young professionals, supporting them at the start of their careers, then expanded to teenage mothers, and now we are extending our reach to visually impaired women. In alignment with global goals, the Girls for Girls Lesotho chapter is committed to fostering inclusive empowerment for all women, regardless of their circumstances. Our target is to reach 200 women by 2026.

Pillar 1

Inclusive Mentorship

As part of our mission to empower underserved women, our Chapter has successfully established three mentorship cohorts, each tailored to support women facing unique challenges. Our programs prioritize not only professional growth but also personal well-being, recognizing that marginalized women often experience significant hardships and stress. To address this, every cohort included an ad-hoc mental health session, creating a safe space for participants to discuss their struggles and develop resilience. Through these initiatives, we continue to foster a supportive community where women can grow, connect, and thrive.

Pillar 2

Insights & Inspiration

We hosted a career workshop in 2022 with renowned speakers from the University of Pretoria and the University of Johannesburg in which mentees were equipped with the skills required to transition from university into the work space. The workshop equipped the mentees and mentors with CV writing skills, interview preparation and personal branding.

We have hosted a range of prominent speakers, including a Communication Specialist, the Acting Director General of the Lesotho National Broadcasting Service, the President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Lesotho, and the highly skilled Business Coach, Duwa Mutharika.

These distinguished leaders have greatly inspired our members by showcasing women in positions of influence, validating their aspirations, and instilling confidence. Their insights and experiences have not only broadened perspectives but also reinforced the belief that leadership is within reach for all women, regardless of their background.

Pillar 3

Impactful Network

We have a Girls for Girls alumni group chat in which current and previous mentors and mentees engage by sharing opportunities and/or sentiments about current affairs with each other. This has allowed women from different backgrounds to connect with each other.

Words From Our Member

"

Girls for Girls was not just a mentorship program for me, it was a movement that redefined my sense of purpose and leadership. When I joined initially as a mentee, I was eager to grow but uncertain of my own voice. I found more than just guidance; I found a powerful network of women who challenged me to rise, to lead, and to believe in the weight of my own presence. The transition to becoming a mentor was not merely a role change; it was a calling. Working with a cohort of teenage mothers at the Lesotho Good Shepherd Centre deepened my understanding of resilience, the strength found in vulnerability, and the transformative power of opportunity. I learned that leadership is not about titles, but about service, about standing in the gap for those who need a hand to hold, a voice to amplify their own. Today, in my professional career, I see the profound impact of these lessons in my daily interactions. I approach my work with empathy, clarity, and a commitment to excellence. I navigate challenges with a leader’s mindset, knowing that every engagement is an opportunity to uplift, to inspire, and to redefine expectations. Girls for Girls instilled in me an unshakable belief that leadership is not reserved for a select few; it is cultivated, nurtured, and shared. And because of this program, I carry that torch forward, ensuring that the light does not stop with me.
